B2 Bumpdate: 28 Weeks

Well, Hello 3rd Trimester!  You are a sight for sore eyes!  By this time with Mykenzi I was just coming into the point of the pregnancy where I was filling out and feeling round.  I was loving life with a bump, this time I've never been more ready to have a baby.  Rowan is literally extended from hip to hip putting all the pressure on my abdomen which isn't great for my hernia.

Nesting finally kicked in.  I've been wondering if it was going to come around?  With Mykenzi I nested pretty much the whole time, this time I've been rather lazy so when I got the burst of energy to go for it, I did!  Nesting for me is kind of crazy though.  I pick stupid stuff to focus what little energy I do have on.  With Mykenzi, I obsessively cleaned all the cabinet knobs in our kitchen and bath then had a full on meltdown the week before she was born about the linen closet and re-organized that.  Nesting with Rowan resulted in sorting already color sorted laundry into more tedious piles that was probably pointless, but made me feel better about the loads of laundry I was about to do.  Does anyone else have hampers full of clothes from the previous season that stay there until you need to launder them again to wear?  I'm so bad at at that! So all my winter stuff is sitting in hampers because I have no need to wash and wear it.  I am proud to say that thanks to nesting I am now two loads away from having absolutely no clothes in any hampers. Go, me!

Here's what's going on this week.

How far along?  28 weeks, 5 days

Total weight gain?  I'm still sticking with 21lbs.  I haven't stepped on the scale since my last appt.  My eating habits are right back up after that stomach bug, so no doubt I've gained a few more.

Maternity clothes?  Yes and no.  I'm still making the most of my pre-baby wardrobe.

Stretch marks?  Sadly, I found some.  They aren't big, and you don't notice them unless you are in direct sunlight which is how I found them.  I noticed while we were at the beach this weekend that the skin between my belly button and where it used to be pierced has some shiny flesh colored lines.  I'm assuming those are stretch marks due to the skin being so thin.  Thankfully, they aren't that noticeable in normal light, but I don't know if that will be the case after Rowan gets here.

Sleep?  Has been better only because I've been so worn out from nesting I literally pass out.  But hey, I'm not complaining. Sleep is sleep!

PEAK of the week?  We had our first beach day of the year!  Mykenzi had a blast!  As for me, I don't know if I was more impressed that I shoved myself into a bikini without anything falling out or that I managed to find my way to my bikini line to get ready for said bikini.  Either way, we all had fun and I look forward to many more beach days for our family.

PIT of the week?  I'm not sure if I've mentioned that our oven died.  I literally used to it to cook one evening and went to use it for lunch the following day and the screen wouldn't work, like at all.  We tried a few troubleshooting tips with no success and we finally got through the company to see what it would take to fix it and it's the motherboard that will cost us $312 to fix. HAH! The kicker? Our oven isn't even 2 years old yet and is just outside of the warranty so we have to pay full price to fix.  So, we are oven-less for the time being because apparently this is a known issue for this particular oven and that is literally half the price of a new oven just to fix it. I refuse to pay half a new oven to fix something that has a habit of going bad all the time, so we are waiting for all the Memorial Day appliance sales and buying a new oven. Oh, homeowner's life.  Gotta love it.

Big Sister?  She's doing really well.  She is going through a clinging to Mommy phase at the moment, which I'm sure is due a sense of change.  She's handling it well though and I sure don't mind all the sweet cuddles.

Daddy?  He's a little butt hurt about the clinging to Mommy stage because Mykenzi literally wants nothing to do with him sometimes.  It breaks my heart to watch, so I can only imagine how it feels to live it.  We got to spend a long weekend with him though which has allowed him to spend extra time with Mykenzi which makes us all happy.

Miss anything?  I miss my oven.  Meal planning around a broken oven bites.  Crockpot and stove top meals only take you so far, plus nothing substantial fits in a toaster oven.

Movement?  All over the place.  I can feel hiccups very clearly.  And he is laying hip to hip so when he moves I feel him on both sides of my hips at the same time.  Its super weird feeling.

Food cravings?  EVERYTHING. But, popcorn has been big this last week and Honeycombs cereal. So good.

Anything making you feel sick or queasy?  I've been pretty good this week after that bug.  Nothing has made me sick or queasy, although nesting made me feel like I did a full body workout.

Gender?  Boy. Boy. Boy.

Symptoms?  My hernia flared up this week from all the moving around and since I've been on my feet a lot I'm starting to see some slight swelling in my feet and ankles.  Something I definitely have to be mindful of since I'll only be getting bigger.

Belly button in or out?  It's actually a little pokey.  Not enough to poke through clothes, but it is extended just a bit.

Happy or moody?  It's been a very happy week.

Looking forward to?  Continuing to nest!  Literally my house has never been so organized or clean! It feels so nice.

  1. You look great, as always!

Oh my gosh, I can't believe your oven is only two years old and already giving you trouble. Being a homeowner really sucks sometimes! I feel your pain!

  2. Avery has been a complete mama's girl the past few weeks and wanted nothing to do with her daddy at times too! It totally breaks my hubby's heart too, Avery is definitely a daddy's girl! I think they just know something's up. Makes me a little bit nervous for the C/section recovery phase when I won't be able to lift a 31-pound toddler! And I can't wait to nest! We are moving this weekend (hello 35 weeks pregnant!) and I haven't been able to prep a nursery, clean, or organize anything knowing we'll just have to pick up and move it all over again!

  3. I would be so freaking pissed if my two year old oven decided to call it quits. Girl you rock pregnancy I am seriously in awe, can you carry my future babies? ;)
