A Vintage Easter

I'm pretty excited about Easter this year.  Florida is finally living up to it's name "The Sunshine State" and Spring is in the air.  Springtime just makes my heart happy, add a baby, and Easter with family and I'm on Cloud 9.

I debated for a while what I wanted Mykenzi to wear for her very first Easter.  I liked a lot of dresses but never really found anything I loved, you know?  Whatever I picked for Mykenzi had to be perfect since this Easter will be documented like crazy since it's her first one.  Pressure much?

Then my Mom brought me the most beautiful Lavender dress.  A dress I remember well ... because it's mine from 30 years ago.

Now mind you, I wore this dress at 2 years old, so the fact that Mykenzi is wearing it at almost 8 months should give you a little indication of her size.  Something she obviously didn't get from her Momma.

It's a vintage Polly Flinders dress, and I'm still in awe that I wore that thing years and years ago.  I'm so excited to share something of mine with my own daughter and I can't wait to share the story of how we both wore the same dress when she is older.  I hope she thinks it's as special as I do.

In addition to dressing Mykenzi up for Easter, the anticipation of her opening her Easter Basket is killing me ... because you know, at almost 8 months old she'll squeal with excitement when she opens it, right?

I added a few things since my last post like her Easter shoes, new pacifiers, and a cute little wooden train we got at the zoo last week.

We are headed off to Alabama for the weekend! Hope you all have a very Happy Easter!

  1. OH my gosh this dress is just perfect! I can't wait to see her in it!! My Mother in law gave me an outfit from when my husband was little and it fits and is precious. It has a bonnet...for a little boy. Ha. But I don't think it's warm enough to wear the whole day since we don't live in the Sunshine state like you! I'm hoping it makes an appearance though! Happy Easter!

  2. OH that dress gave me chills! I cannot wait to see pictures of her in it. How special and I know that she will look back and this when she is older and love the sentimental value of it. Maybe even get to put HER daughter in the dress as well *eeep!*

  3. Love this! My mom only saved ONE dress from when I was little (meanwhile I am hording ALL of Presley's clothes) I bought her Easter outfit last year and I am so excited to put her in it! Now I just need to find something matching for me!

  6. What a special thing for Mykenzie to wear your old Easter dress! My mom passed along two little dresses of mine that I have hanging in Avery's closet to wear this summer. :)
