Easter Weekend

So you may recall in the last 3 posts that we headed to Alabama this past weekend for Easter.  It's about a 3 hour drive from where we live in Florida ... which isn't terrible, but then we had a baby.  I had been super stressed out about this road trip for months.  We made the trip in November when Mykenzi was 3 months old and she was ancy. So naturally, I was nervous what a trip might to do an almost 8 month old ... especially considering this was the view most of the way.

I don't mind farmlands or farm animals, but they aren't really conducive for stopping to feed, change, and entertain a baby.  After months of stress and obsessing over a travel day plan, it was here and to my surprise went extremely well.  Mykenzi slept until we actually hit a town with a national food chain, played in her carseat for a bit, zonked back out, and woke up as we pulled into our Aunt's driveway.  Thank you, Baby Jesus!

We enjoyed an afternoon of coffee chats, baby giggles, and some family downtime before heading to the hotel for the evening where I'm pretty sure we all fell asleep before our heads hit the pillow.

The next morning our darling daughter was so nice to wake us 30 minutes before the alarm to get ready for her first Easter service, which still didn't stop us from making it to the church within minutes of service starting.  Oops. 8 Months into this Mom game and I still can't calculate getting us all ready and out the door on time.  BUT, Mykenzi looked adorable and her Easter dress was a hit.

After service the whole family heads back to our Aunt's house for Easter Lunch and family visits.

Mykenzi also got to hang out with Grandma M who is 102 years her senior.  The oldest and youngest members of the family sure did have a bond.  Thank goodness for pictures to secure these sweet moments.

With a successful Baby's First Easter in the books, we loaded up and headed back to Florida ready to do it all over again next year.

Hope you all enjoyed your Easter as much as we enjoyed ours.  I can't wait to catch up on all your Easter posts.

  1. How neat that your grandma got to meet Mykenzi! We have always made Presley suffer through long road trips and thankfully for the most part she sleeps right through them! Being in the car with an unhappy baby is miserable!!!

  2. How sweet are those pictures with Grandma M!! And trust me, even if you think you give yourself plenty of time, it's just never enough with kids to get out the door on time! :)
