My husband and I like to play the "We aren't spoiling our kid" card when we shop for birthdays and holidays. How long that will last, I'm not really sure. I try to pretend that I don't spoil Mykenzi but let's be honest ... there is always going to be some sort of spoiling going on. I mean she flashes a sweet smile when she's really into something and I just melt. I'm in some serious trouble as she gets older and Christmases get more expensive.
We chose to only do a few gifts this year. It's a tradition we'd really like to keep going, but again we'll see how long that lasts. I do find it hard buying 85 gifts when we all know the box it came in is going to be more exciting to her.
Fisher Price BrightBeats Dance & Move BeatBo - We have been eyeing this dang robot for months. The commercial would always catch Mykenzi's eye so we did a test run in the store and let her play with it and it took me all I could do not to purchase this thing on the spot. We were just a few months from Christmas so I knew it would make the perfect gift for her. I was worried she'd forget about it or lose interest so every time we'd go to the store we'd hit the toy section and refresh her robot lovin' memory. I'm so excited for her to open this Christmas day! She gets the cheesiest grin and bobs her head to every word this robot says! Perfect for toddlers who love to dance!
Old Navy Pajamas (Cat & Heart)- I have a really unhealthy obsession with pajamas for Mykenzi. I mean, I feel like its something you can never have enough of especially when its the clothing choice we use most around here. Of course, I couldn't bypass the cat pajamas because duh, cats! I love Old Navy pajamas because they are always so soft and seem to last the best through multiple washes and wears.
Stride-Rite Unicorn Slippers - First, are these not the most adorable things you've ever seen?! Exactly. That's what I thought. Mykenzi is obsessed with shoes. She brings me her shoes everyday to put on her feet and then she runs around the house like a mad woman. That's when I thought about slippers! It is getting cooler and her feet tend to chill and you only let your child bust their face on tile once before you realize socks are going to be a no-go for feet warmers. These slippers have grips on the bottoms of them which is perfect for tile or hardwood, so we'll get to keep those tiny front teeth for a while longer.
First Builders Mega-Bloks - First of all, these were a pain in the you know what to locate because who spells Blocks with out the C? This gift was something I wasn't sure about getting Mykenzi because I thought she still might be a little young for it, but she has been stacking her blocks for months and gets about 5 high before her tower comes tumbling down. Much like her mother, instead of starting over, she get's pissed and knocks blocks all over the living room before trying to rebuild her tower. I figured these big Mega-Bloks would allow her to build her towers without them tumbling before she's done building. I'm hoping she likes them, but I'll tell you a little secret ... I think her Dad is more excited for this gift. Something about men and lego blocks, I don't get it, but whatever. I'll be sure to snap a picture of Daddy proudly building something with Pink and Lime lego blocks.
The Grinch's Great Big Flap Book - For the past two Christmases I have replaced Mykenzi's regular book in our living room with Christmas books. I doubt she really understand the difference now, but I'm hoping as she gets older she'll get excited in the anticipation of reading Christmas books all December long. My goal is to include a Christmas book as a gift every Christmas so she can open it on Christmas Eve and we'll read it before bed and add it to her Christmas book collection. The Grinch's Great Big Flap Book is the perfect addition. Its a shortened story of the How the Grinch Stole Christmas with over 60 flaps for her to get her little fingers on. I'm excited for a kid friendly version of a classic. This will tie her over until she's old enough for the Big Girl Version.
That's whats under our tree for our Toddler, what's under yours? Also, what kind of traditions are you implementing for your littles!

Yep, you can still get away this for now :) My sweet Avery is getting 3 presents in comparison to her brother and sister who are getting 12! LOL Megabloks are on my little babes list too :)
ReplyDeleteKyle doesn't do it, but I so totally can't help it with Sophie. Any time we go to babies r us, you know we're walking out with a new toy but I have gotten better at it and it's not as often. She is getting a good bit this year from my mom, but for the most we do plan on keeping her head out of the clouds with being spoiled.
