Loving Lately

While still on the hunt for the perfect blog name, I thought Pinterest might be a great source of inspiration ... except my blog inspiration turned into fashion inspiration and anything else NOT pertaining to blogs.  Oops.  My slight case of A.D.D. and intense hankering to break out and spice up my Fall wardrobe led me to this: my first Loving Lately post!

1: The more layers the merrier.

Now that I'm a Mom, I want something different for my style.  I still want to be fun with my style but also want a more sophisticated look ... I kind of feel compelled to make my style "grow up" now that I'm a Mom.  Of course, with Fall in the air layering is always on trend and double layering button ups scream fun and sophisticated.  I think it will be a great way to mix prints and colors and have a little creative flare to keeping warm.  I'm hoping Florida gets cold enough this year so I can try to pull this look off.

2:  Bigger. Blacker. Badder.

I've always assured my husband that I would never be one of those girls who would spend a crap ton of money on makeup ... that was until I signed up for Ipsy.  Every month they send you samples of make up and last month I fell in love with Urban Decay's Perversion Mascara.  I've used the same drugstore mascara for YEARS.  I'm talking since my high school days.  I've ventured out and tried other brands and types but always found myself going back to old faithful.  To my surprise, I actually love Urban Decay's Perversion better than old faithful. Gasp! Sorry L'Oreal ... step your game up! I'm not too keen on the $22 price tag but I do feel it's fully justified.  This mascara adds the perfect volume and fluffs my lashes without having to curl them ... and the best part? It stays all day ... and the day after if you accidentally fall asleep with your make up on. Let's be real here, I have a newborn ... if that kid goes down the last thing on my mind is washing my face!

3. Baby Wearing

I'm super excited to get into baby wearing.  I have recently been gifted the Moby Wrap and am dying to give it a try.  It's festival season and I'm super excited to get Mykenzi wrapped so I don't have to worry about lugging the stroller and car seat around in a sea of people.  I'm also excited to reap the benefits of baby wearing, which I had no idea the benefits of baby wearing were so awesome.  I'm hoping Mykenzi will like it as much as I do.

4.  Green with envy.

I'm totally obsessing over Essie's Going Incognito polish.  I'm a huge fan of dark nail colors for Fall and I can't wait to get my hands on this one ... or get this one on my hands, I should say.  Essie is famous for producing the most amazing colors in polish and Going Incognito is no different.  I envision this with a plaid flannel, jeans, and boots ... doesn't that just have Fall written all over it?!  I hope this child of mine will lend me some time to get some color on these scraggly looking fingers soon!

5. Furry Friends

I've decided that I need fur in my life this coming cold season.  Not real of course!  I haven't exactly figured out how fur and a baby will go together but I am determined to make work.  I love the look of mixing faux fur vests with plaid, chiffon, and chambray tops.  The clothing combos with fur are endless!  Now it's just finding the perfect vest!  H&M has one on sale right now, I just may have to snag one.

That's what I'm loving lately.  I'd love to hear some fall trends that you love and your thoughts on baby wearing!

Happy weekend readers!

  1. I am so with you on mommy-friendly fashion. I signed up for my first Stitch Fix and told them I was a new mommy and asked for some comfy and practical but still stylish options! And you should check out my Friday post - I am so obsessed with baby-wearing right now! I just ordered an Ergobaby and am so excited for it to ship. The Moby is so comfy but I got overwhelmed with how much fabric it has - you should totally post some pictures when you wear Mykenzie! Happy Friday! :)

  2. I haven't found my mommy trend yet, haha. I just do not have the time! I am with you on baby wearing, though. I actually opted for a wearable carrier for Ashlynn instead of a car seat carrier, and just got a car seat to grow with her. I hated Kane's carrier seat, and he outgrew it so quickly! Plus, like you said, the benefits of wearing are vast! I want to see pictures when you wear her. I bet you're going to love it!

  3. Loving that Essie nail color and last winter I went NUTS looking for a cute faux fur vest. I finally gave up. Now seeing that image has struck my interest again!
