Baby's First Thanksgiving

I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday! I know we did!  It's always nice to be surrounded by family and this year was extra special because it was Mykenzi's first trip to Alabama, well, outside of my belly anyway.

Our family travels to a little town in Alabama every year.  It's about a 3 hour drive from where we live in Florida which isn't terrible, but traveling with a 3 month old had me concerned.  Mykenzi did very well, we filled her little tummy up so she slept most of the way up there.  She was nice and wide awake in time to meet all sorts of family!  She was so well behaved, I was impressed.  Not that I expected her to be a wailing hot mess, but I didn't know how she would take so many people and so many things going on ... but she handled it like a champ.  By the time we were ready to leave she was incredibly exhausted.  The trip home wasn't as easy breezy as the trip up but she still did really well.  Here are a few snapshots from our day.

This one is really special because Mykenzi got to meet Grandma M.  She is our Uncle's Mother but everyone claims her as Grandma.  She will turn 102 in February so it was a real treat for Mykenzi to be able to spend some time with her.  Alongside Grandma M are Mykenzi's cousins.  The little ones are her 4 year old Second Cousins who so sweetly call Mykenzi "Miss Kenzi"

This is Mykenzi and her Uncle Chris, we suckered him into holding her.  This is the first time he's held her which makes this picture even sweeter.  He's held off from holding her because babies and wobbly heads are a tad bit terrifying ... so he opted to wait until she had a better grasp on holding her head up.  He didn't know he was ready, but we plopped Mykenzi into his hands and said we had to go get stuff out of the car .... except instead of getting stuff out of the car we stood there snapping pictures and awe-ing.

All in all, another successful Thanksgiving is in the books.  While I was blessed with a well behaved  baby for the holiday ... My post Thanksgiving baby was quite the crab.  I can't really blame her ... we were all exhausted and thrown off.  Nothing an extra nap (or two) and snuggles couldn't fix.

I got my happy baby back just in time to decorate for Christmas! *insert giddy squeal here*  I've been dying to decorate for Christmas but I always try my hardest to wait for Thanksgiving to be over before I break out the Christmas decor.  Thanksgiving is my husband's holiday and Christmas is mine.  So we try to respect each other's holiday wishes and his wishes are to torture me and make me remain Christmas-less until after Thanksgiving.  That's okay though, he gets a day, I get a month ... so who's the real winner here?!

Up this week are Mykenzi's Favorites!  A few things that have made for a happy Baby which ultimately makes for a happy Momma.  Be sure to check back!

Happy Monday!

  1. Yay for a good car ride. When we go to my in-laws it's two hours away and Presley manages to usually sleep through the entire ride. The way home is never as easy! Probably because we hit traffic or she poops herself then all hell breaks loose!

    1. Hahaha, you gotta love baby poop at the most inopportune times! Mykenzi thinks it's fun when we're shopping with strangers around. I swear that's when she decides to grunt the loudest. #awkward
