I bought a car. Again. Well, technically its an SUV, but that doesn't soften the blow that this is my 5th motor vehicle in year's time. (This would be a good place for the wide-eyed emoji.)
Okay, before you think I'm TOTALLY crazy, let's rewind to last year. I had a baby! Surprise! You didn't know?! Kidding. Anyway, so Mykenzi graced our lives in August. I had my 2DR Honda Accord which to say I loved is an understatement. That car was my baby. It was the first car I bought on my own, I bought it practically brand new without any help from my parents. I struggled at times to pay for it but the day came that I actually paid it off. I owned it free and clear. I had that car for 8 years before Mykenzi even came along, so it was kind of more a part of the family than she was. Terrible, I know. But I loved that car! I thought I could ignore the fact that it only had two doors. I mean how bad could it be? Well, it was bad. Her infant seat barely passed by the seats and the door frame. I had to shove her in the car every time, and let's not even talk about the days it rained. It became more of pain in the rear to go anywhere so I'd just hibernate inside. Cue Cabin Fever. Then, I finally decided that I needed 4 doors. I couldn't handle just two doors any longer. Since I had paid off my car, we didn't want to go back to two car payments so the plan was to find a comparable 4 door that allowed us to still not have payment.
In November 2014, I was a proud new owner of my very first 4DR car. It was a Honda Civic. We got an amazing deal and it was a great little car. Keyword being LITTLE. Although, my Accord was only two doors it was still bigger than this 4DR Civic. I drove it for a while and it did its job. Although, it was hard to watch your 6ft Husband ride in the dash because there was a car seat in the back. We needed more space, but how were we going to do it and still have no payment?
6 Months later we found a great deal on a Nissan Altima. A quick test drive and car seat test and that baby landed a parking spot in my drive way. She was a great car, but no Honda Accord. My heart was still broken over my 2 door. I know right? It's just a car, like get over it already! But I couldn't. Not to mention, Nissan has what they call a CVT Transmission which is short for Continuously Variable Transmission which basically for me, was fancy talk for sounding like you never shift into the next year while you drive. I hear you either hate it or love it and I hated it! Like, with a passion hated it. So, I was on the hunt again and my husband was questioning why he married me.
A couple of months later, my husband came home from work and found an incredible deal. It was like the answer to my CVT hatred prayers. It was a Honda Accord AND it was four doors. Win, Win! Right?! We had been discussing the future and were considering a small SUV especially if we wanted to expand our family in a few years, but this deal was too good to pass up and I know I would love a Honda Accord. So, the Accord (#2) stole the Altima's spot in the driveway.
Yay! We were finally done car shopping and I was finally done being a crazy lady right?! Yeah, that's what I thought too, but nope. Just when we were adjusting to life with the Accord, we found an SUV. We almost let the deal go because the Accord was such a great car, but then we drove it and we both loved it. It had more space, I sat higher on the road, the Cargo room speaks for itself, and if we ever expand our family there was more than enough room. So, two weeks ago I became a proud owner of a Mazda CX-7 ... and now I promise I'm done car shopping. Well, I kind of have to be because if I ever bring up cars again I think my husband just might hand me papers. (Insert Wide-Eyed Emoji again.) And I'm kind of fond of my husband, I mean, I'd like to keep him around a little longer, so we don't want papers.
So friends, this is why I have a different car every time we have a lunch date, and this is also quite possibly the reason my husband is losing his hair. Don't be too hard on him, he puts up with a lot of crazy.
Wow girl I thought I was a lot having owned 6 cars - but that is in my lifetime not one year!! :) It's funny because with a kid no matter what there is just never enough room!
ReplyDelete5 cars in 1 year?! I think that is some sort of record :) Love your newest addition though!

ReplyDeleteoh my gosh!!! hahaha this post cracked me up! have a car baby right now that I've had for 5 years, new, paid for all by me, with my first big girl job. it's roomy but I dunno if it's infant seat roomy. I know we can fit regular car seats (babysitting back in the day). I'll be so sad to see it go when we have a sweet babe. But the trade off of kinda the best!!
ReplyDeleteThis is too cute!! So glad you finally upgraded to that SUV. I'm dreaming of it some day. My '13 Dodge Dart does the trick for now, but dang is it small!!
