So, I had all intentions of being incredibly lazy all weekend. We had no plans, no obligations, and the hubby didn't have work on Monday. The perfect recipe for couch potato heaven. Then I woke up Saturday morning with a type of pain that I can only describe as death and pee that looked like I drank red food coloring. Yeah. Not good.
We loaded up and went directly to Immediate Care as I was trying to avoid and ER bill because of course I can't get sick or anything during the week when Doctors are actually working. #MurphysLaw Still no clue what was going on, I was triaged and sent back to the waiting room. I was assuming a UTI until I started having crippling back pain that left me on the floor of the hospital bathroom. Not my most sanitary moment, but I literally thought I was going to die in that bathroom. My husband helped peel me off the floor and get me back to the room where they determined I had a Kidney Stone and gave me 2 shots in the rear and a bag full of meds that did not include anything for pain.
Yep, no pain meds for the awful amount of pain I was in, so guess where I ended up at 4am Sunday morning? The ER. A CT Scan determined I did in fact have a stone that was sitting so nicely in the Urterer tube just on the edge of my bladder. All I had to do was get it to drop into the bladder so I could pass the stone. Easier said than done. I left the ER about 10am with a healthy dose of pain meds. Needless to say, my "Mom" duties were revoked as I couldn't answer any question my husband asked coherently.
I thought I was golden. I would take my meds as prescribed and I'd pass this thing, no problem! And then, along came nausea and vomiting. I couldn't keep anything down, not even water, which I needed to pass the stone. So 4 hours after leaving the first time, I ended up back in the ER making a huge dent in their supply of barf bags. Just when I didn't think things could get any worse, my severe dehydration caused them to blow 4 veins trying to get an IV started. They ended up using a pediatric needle to FINALLY get the IV in place. I was a hot mess, y'all. Even my two male nurses weren't shy in telling me that I looked rough. Normally, I might've been a little pissy about their lack of compliments, but they held all the pain meds so they were still good in my book.
Another 4 hours in the ER, I was finally stabilized and no longer in pain and sent on my way. I spent Monday recuperating from Sunday's events and finally passed the stone this morning. Hallelujah!
So, not quite the weekend I had anticipated, but I'm thankful to finally be on the mend. Y'all I hope you never have to experience a Kidney Stone. Worst. Pain. Ever. I'd rather be in labor a million times over. It was awful. But, in the midst of all that, I did manage to enjoy our very first Florida State game of the season with my little Nole!
I'll be back this week with my Fall Style post with Pink Blush Maternity and I also have a post on something that almost caused my husband to divorce me. Kidding, but I think he might've secretly thought it once or twice.
You poor thing. I can't even imagine that pain. Glad you are on the mend!
