Project Nursery

Eeek!  I'm a little excited about this blog post.  I've been planning Baby Girl's nursery since before she was a SHE. #yesimcrazy  I mean, I picked out boy stuff too just to be safe, but I kept finding myself in the land of princesses and all things girly.

I love anything pink, but for the nursery I didn't want to go traditional pink.  I just always envisioned walking into a bright, crisp, yet extremely girly nursery.  Sooo, I went Coral instead.  Below is a vision board I created for the color palette and key pieces I'd like to incorporate into Mykenzi's room.  All are tangible items with decent price points and of course I couldn't put together a nursery without tapping into my crafty/dyi side.

  1. The color palette includes white, light khaki, light and dark coral pieces, with gold accents.  The theme is what I like to call Vintage Chic.  I don't know if that is a real thing, but that's what I'm going with.

  2. I stumbled upon this quilt on Pinterest.  I fell in love when I noticed it combined coral and gold dots!  Its the perfect piece to go with the sheets.  Thankfully, the link worked!  It's a little pricier than I would like to spend on a quilt for the crib but in comparison it's cheaper than any other quilt I've found.  It's from a little Etsy shop called Nooches.  The owner is super talented and makes a ton of different baby items.  You should definitely give her a browse!

  3. I have quite the obsession with gold polka dots.  I don't know when or how this came about but I managed to find sheets and a changing pad cover with gold dots on them from thelandofnod.com   The Land of Nod is so much fun to look at! Not only does it have baby stuff but it goes into toddler and kid years as well.  I'm going to get myself into some serious trouble on this site! #iwanteverything

  4. I'm not sold on the banner but it basically shows the color palette and mix of prints I would love to incorporate through the nursery.

  5. The coral dresser is another random Pinterest find and speaks to my crafty/diy heart!  When I found the dresser that is when I fully committed to coral in the nursery.  I love creating statement pieces.  My plan is to keep the crib white and paint the dresser and nightstand we currently have this bright coral.  I will even everything out with a white based rocker and ottoman.  I also plan on using the dresser we have as a changing table so the gold dots will be featured on top of the dresser, as well as, in the crib.

Below are a few accent items that I'm planing to incorporate into the nursery. First and foremost, is the monogram!!  You can't have a little girl's nursery without a monogram piece hanging over the crib! #itsasouthernthing #wemonogrameverything

Next are a few of my favorite pieces.  I love the idea of making your own mobile for the crib and artwork for the nursery.  To me, it allows you to add one of a kind customized pieces that you created for your nursery.  Like I said, I'm a fool for any craft/diy project so little projects like these steal my heart.  Of course, the state canvas would be Florida and I will probably forego the monogram on it since she'll already have a monogram piece in  her room.  The goal would be to incorporate all these painting pieces and frames into a collage wall.  I'm even thinking about incorporating the chalkboard I've been using to track my pregnancy into the nursery.

Not that you all need to know every detail of the nursery ... this is just a place for me to let me creativity flow and continue to track thought processes and happenings during my pregnancy.  One day far, far away I would love to give Mykenzi access to all my posts so she can see what it was like as her Mom and Dad were preparing her for her grand entrance into this world.  I will be sure to keep you all updated on all my diy crafts for the nursery ... we all know they are great in theory but sometimes they just bomb ... I've had a few pintrosities in my day.

Next up, the 17 week blog post later this week!  I feel like weeks are going faster and faster as we approach the half way mark! Aaaah!  Slow down Mykenzi!  Momma still has lots to get done!

  1. Love this color theme! I originally wanted gold but decided to let that vision go once I felt myself veering towards light pink and gray with mercury glass. Love how it's all coming together. So much pink, so much fun!
