My Wish

I'm finding that heading into the third trimester is quite the emotional event.  I'm realizing that incredibly soon I'll be meeting this little girl who I've carefully carried in my belly for months.  Despite the little stressors of making sure you provide the right nutrition, ample rest, and quality TLC she will never be safer than where she is at this very moment.  In a few short months those little stressors will turn into huge ones ... ones that will require the utmost protection for this little life in this big world.

I've pressed through fear, doubt, anxiety, and now even though I'm overjoyed I can't help but feel a little sad knowing my days of holding her within are numbered.  Nothing prepares you for the bond you create with your little one from within ... I can only imagine it must be more amazing to nurture that bond once you are holding your little one in your arms.  While I'm beyond excited to experience that, I wish I could freeze time and savor these kicks and wiggles for a little while longer.

On my wedding day instead of a traditional Father/Daughter dance, I shared a Mother/Daughter dance to Rascal Flatts' My Wish.  This song makes my heart smile and the song perfectly encompasses the life my Mother worked hard to provide for me.  She is my biggest cheerleader and I hope I can be as amazing of a Mother as she is.

So Mykenzi, I feel it is only fitting to share this song with you ... these words are my wish for you and remember Mommy and Daddy love you more than you could ever know!  We can't wait to meet you!

"My Wish"
I hope that the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And you always give more than you take.

But more than anything, yeah, and more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

This is my wish
I hope you know somebody loves you
May all your dreams stay big

  1. Having a baby for me was quite possibly one of the scariest yet happiest moments of my life. I was induced for both (well, csection the second time, but I knew the exact moment both were going to happen) and the anxiety and excitement were art a steady tie the entire time. But holding the baby, all I felt was love. Your going to be a fabulous mom. You put so much care into everything, that girl will have an amazing mom. You will more than fill the shoes you want to.
