1 Month Update

Little Miss has blessed our lives for a solid month now.  People don't kid when they say time flies.  She changes so much everyday, I can't even handle it.  Why doesn't parenthood come with a pause button?  So far, life with a newborn has proven to be tough, exhausting, yet amazing and so totally worth it.  I'll be the first to admit that a couple of weeks ago I was fairly certain that Mykenzi was going to be an only child ... but the fog has lifted, we are finally finding a groove over here, and I feel like maaaybe I could do this again ... one day ... far, far away.

Postpartum was no walk in the park.  If you missed that post, you can check out that hot mess here. Life after postpartum is allowing the craziness to find its place in this bustling new life we lead and my heart is so full of love for this little human being.  I still find myself in awe that I created this little life.  She's the perfect mix of me and my husband and I cannot wait to see her personality grow.  She's already cracking us up these days so I'm sure we will have a little ham on our hands before we know it!

Our stat's are a little old, I'm positive she's grown a bit since these measurements were taken at her last well visit.  We go back in October for her 2 month well visit.

Age: 1 Month

Weight: 7lbs 12oz (40th percentile)

Length: 20 1/2 inches (50th percentile)

Head Circumference: 34.5cm (25th percentile)

Size (Diapers, Onesies, Etc.):  Newborn - although, onesies and diapers are getting a little snug.  We will probably be moving on up to the next size very soon!

Eyes:  Light Blue.  They've lightened so much since birth!  With Daddy's Green/Blue and my Hazel eyes we are very anxious to see what color they will be.

Hair:  Light Brown.  Her hair has lightened a lot since birth as well.  She started with Mommy's dark hair and has slowly taken on her Daddy's color and waves.

Sleeping:  Isn't terrible.  We manage about 3.5 hour stretches at night.  Not a whole lot, but enough to function like a human! We'll take it!

Eating:  Her favorite subject!  We are up to 3oz feedings every 3-4 hours.  My little piggie loves feeding time and her cute little thigh rolls are starting to show it!

Milestones:  She's been trying to lift that heavy noggin of hers since birth.  With a ton of persistence, determination, and some fuss she's almost mastered the art of holding her head up on her own.  She also moves those legs like crazy and scoots herself around.  I should've known she was going to be on the move fairly quick, that is all she did in my belly! Kick, kick, kick!  She is also quite the roller, and  although she can't quite get from her back to her belly, she is a fan of rolling onto her sides to sleep and hang out.  I fear she'll be mobile before I know it! Ah, so not ready!

Memorable Outings:  We've been out to visit friends, Doctor's appointments, grocery runs, etc. and she does great!  She loves riding in the car and its an instant nap inducer! #winning  What makes outings most memorable is that she finds them as her cue to provide us with blowout diapers that make changing her in the car a sport of its own.  Ah, parenthood.

Favorite Toys/Activities:  She loves Pinky the Binky.  It's a pacifier with a Giraffe stuffed animal attached to it.  She loves that it gives her something for her hands to hold on to.  Tummy time is a short lived fun time ... She starts out great but gets frustrated when her legs don't quite get her moving like she wants.

Words/Sounds:  No words yet, but she has definitely found her voice and we are experiencing the cutest coo's and squeaks over here.

Funny Moments:  There are so many!  We have a lot of moments that we find hilarious but you as my readers may find ridiculous so I'll try to spare you those stories.  Of course at this stage, most of our funniest moments revolve around bodily functions.  One evening, I was sitting on the couch holding the baby (of course.) and chatting with my husband when this rather manly burst of air graced our ear drums.  The look on my husband's face was priceless as he thought I was the one who casually farted mid-conversation.  I thought I gave birth to this dainty little girl, but apparently she strives to be like Daddy in flatulence department ... they seriously sound like they come from a 250 pound man.  Especially awkward and funny when done in public places.

Looking Forward To:  Watching her grow into her  personality.  I'm eagerly awaiting that first responsive smile that is not gas induced.

I'm also looking forward to sharing her nursery with you!  Yay!  It is FINALLY finished! It's about time, right?!  Now, I just have to get the pictures taken for the blog ... which is easier said than done these days.

Happy Weekend, Readers!
