Dear Mykenzi: 10 Months

We've officially hit the double digits and I'm excited, anxious, and a little sad.  When I was pregnant with you everyone would say, "Before you know it, she'll be grown."  I never really knew how true that would be until the day we met you.  It's like our life has been on fast forward since, and here we are 10 months later.  The crazy part is everything about your birth feels fresh, yet a lifetime ago at the same time.  The next two months are scary for me.  I've been really focused on trying to soak up as much of your littleness as I can.  I know the days are numbered until you really start becoming an independent little human being.  I'm not ready for one year, so we'll just focus on 10 Months for now.

I actually have your height and weight this month because we got to see your Pediatrician.  I had a first time Mom moment and was convinced you had Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease ... turns out, you just had a couple of ant bites.  Surely, it won't be the last time I make a fool of myself at your Doctor's Office.  You are 29 inches tall and 18 pounds.  You're starting to lean out, but you still have your chunky baby thighs so I'm okay with that.

You're still wearing size 3 diapers.  They are fitting pretty well, so I don't see a change in that anytime soon.  You are still wearing 9 and 12 month clothing.  It's been nice to actually enjoy outfits and not have you grow out of them as soon as I get them.  I think we'll get to enjoy 12 month clothing for a while longer.

Your eyes are still blue.  I'm still not sure if we can call that your permanent eye color, but they haven't changed since birth so we will see!  Your hair is still a Light Brown and is growing like a weed!  Bedhead has been crazy looking since your hair is growing so much.  You are starting to get little curls at the ends, especially when it's super humid outside.  We can officially get them into the cutest little pigtails I've ever seen, although you aren't too keen on Momma doing your hair.  You better get used to it!

We are still breastfeeding.  I'm really hopeful that we will make it to a year.  It's been such a long journey and I'm so proud of how far we've both come.  You are so interested in table food these days. You insist on eating whatever I am eating.  If I sit down with a plate of food you scurry across the living room to get to me so I can share.  Gone are the days of having my own meal, but that's okay you're worth it.

You officially have four teeth!  Your two top teeth have been making their way through and finally broke the gum line.  Since they've broken the gum line, sleep has been pretty rough for you but we're managing.  You wake about 3am in some pain, but we're able to get you back down pretty quickly and you'll sleep til morning.  Your naps have been pretty consistent and you are still at 2 naps a day, most days.  Some days you give me a run for my money and only give me 1 nap.

Sitting still is not your thing.  You are on the move! Crawling, pulling up, standing and trying to walk everywhere.  It doesn't matter what it is, you will pull up on it!  You've given me my fair share of heart attacks this month.  You are walking along the furniture and with your push toy, but not quite there on your own yet.  That's okay, I'm not ready either!

You love to dance!  If you hear music, you start shaking! I love it!  You've also learned to hold the phone to your ear when we say, "Say Hello!"  You haven't quite figured out that's for phones only but that's okay.  We find it incredibly cute when you "Say Hello!" to remotes, rattles, stuffed animals, etc.  You've learned to put shapes into things.  You can put your square and circle puzzle piece back where it goes on your push toy, and you can put your balls into their slot on your table.  Right now you find that sharing is fun.  I'm not sure that will be the case in the coming months but you share your paci and puffs with us.  You are also an Indian Giver ... as soon as you share you take it back. You can do bits and pieces of "Patty Cake" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider" with your hands.  We'll get the whole thing one day.

You can say MaMa, DaDa, ByeBye, Hi, Bubble, and Weeee!  We are working on Love You.  Other than that you are chattering baby gibberish all day long!  I wonder what it is your saying.  It is so fun to watch you have a conversation with your toys.  You still wave like it's your job and this month you learned to blow kisses.  It's still a work in progress, but you've got it!  You still love to give your slobbery kisses when asked, that's one of my favorite things.  We've been working on high fives and you are almost there!  You've learned that when we say, "Good Job!" that it's a good thing and will clap for yourself every time we say it.

You've grown up so much this past month and you are really coming into your own.  It's amazing to see you pick stuff up that we teach so quickly.  You are so smart.  Sometimes too smart!  I wasn't prepared for this stage of your life to happen so fast, but I'm adjusting with you.  It's such a fun age and I hope I always remember these moments.  We say everyday how blessed we are to have you in our lives!  I couldn't imagine life without you!  You are one special little girl!  I hope you never forget that!

Happy 10 Months my tiny dancer!  We love you so very  much!
