Shop Small: Hopsital Bag Essentials

When I packed for the Hospital with Mykenzi I pretty much packed everything but the kitchen sink and used maybe 3 things out of my suitcase.  Typical Rookie Mom move I suppose, but this time I really wanted to think about what I actually needed at the Hospital and what I would actually use while packing as minimal as possible.

I was very methodical in what I chose to include in this post, and I'm very honored to have teamed up with several small shops who have provided some amazing products to make my Hospital stay that much easier.  These are true Hospital essentials for Momma and Baby, and I can promise you will use every single item.

Ollie & Olina - Keepsake Quilt

With Mykenzi I brought my old Baby Blanket that I passed down to her.  It was a precious moment to witness my freshly birthed baby girl all wrapped up in something I cherished from my childhood.  I didn't have anything like that to pass down to Rowan and neither did my husband.  I felt bad that I didn't have anything special for him to bond with from the moment he arrived in this world to growing up.  Ollie & Olina changed that.  Their Keepsake Heirloom Quilts are beyond gorgeous.  They are handmade from the highest quality fabrics that are sewn to stand the test of time and provide your Newborn with a loving snuggle.  I can't even describe how excited I am to have something so special to wrap my newest bundle of joy in.  Ollie & Olina also offer Burp Cloths and Bibs out of these beautiful fabrics that are equally as precious as the quilts.  If you are looking for that special keepsake item, Ollie & Olina is your shop.

Ashes Ashes Design - Hello I'm New Here Hat

For some reason I don't care for the Pink and Blue hopsital hats on baby boys.  I feel like they speak more to girls even though they have blue on it.  I knew from the minute I found out I was having a boy that I needed to find a hat that I wanted him to wear during his stay because I do not want the pink and blue one they provide you with.  About that time, I stumbled upon Ashes Ashes Design on Etsy and fell in love with her "Hello, I'm new here!" hat.  It was perfect!  It is so incredibly soft and the colors just put this Boy Momma's heart at ease.  It will be the perfect hat for Rowan's grand entrance into this world.  Ashes Ashes Design offers all sorts of amazing things for your littles that you will absolutely fall in love with.  Just for being a loyal reader, Ashes Ashes Design is offering 30% off your purchase until June 10th using code: BAKINGBABYB

Charlie Rowan Designs - Newborn Swaddle Set

We would've never survived Mykenzi's newborn days without swaddling and that was the one thing I didn't really purchase.  This time I wanted to make sure I had some quality swaddle blankets on hand so Rowan could be swaddled with care from the very start.  Charlie Rowan Designs not only offers the cutest swaddle sets, but also the sweetest toddler blankets and crib sheets for your little one's room.  I especially love that she offers these items in Monochrome.  Black and White baby stuff just has me swooning right now.  The blanket and hat are super soft and made from a great quality fabric.  Something that was important to me since I never purchased a good quality swaddle blanket for Mykenzi.  Rowan will be snug as a bug in his Charlie Rowan Designs swaddle set and that makes me a happy Momma.

Pink Blush - Hospital Robe

Now that we got the baby essentials taken care of, we've got to take care of Momma too!  You need to be just as comfortable as baby as you recover and become a food source.  I packed normal pajamas with Mykenzi and after having a c-section and trying to nurse it was impossible to wear them so I stayed in my hospital gown that I loathed.  You always moon whoever is standing behind you and because it ties in the back anytime I moved it twisted.  I absolutely hated it.  Pink Blush was nice enough to send me one of their beautiful Hospital Robes for my stay.  I'd be lying to you if I didn't tell you that I've been wearing it pre-hospital stay, but it is just so soft and so comfortable.  It's definitely going to make my stay so much easier from comfort, to easy access for skin to skin, and easy access for nursing.  This needs to be in every Momma's hospital bag.

Boob & Baby - Boob Butter

This has to be one of my favorite essentials for Mom.  Why? Because breastfeeding is no joke and seriously takes a toll on those precious ta-tas of yours.  I purchased regular lanolin with Mykenzi and it didn't help cracked nipples at all which led to even more pain.  A few weeks in I discovered an article that actually discouraged Lanolin use because it could cause thrush for you and baby.  I immediately stopped using it and just suffered through the pain until breastfeeding became normal.  When I discovered Boob & Baby's Boob Butter I knew I had to have it.  Why? Because it is all natural.  It's made with 100% plant based vegan and all natural ingredients that provide you with 300% more moisture than other lanolin based nipple creams.  Doesn't that just sound amazing?!  If anything can ease the pain of sore nipples and help breastfeeding success in those first few weeks, I am all for it.  And because Boob & Baby believes in their product so much they are offering you 15% off your purchase until Mid-June with code: 15OFF

These are my top essentials for an easy breezy hospital stay.  Of course you don't want to forget your toothbrush, going home outfits, camera, and things like that, but those aren't as fun to tell you about nor do they make for appealing pictures in a blog post.  The most amazing part about these essentials, I got them all packed into one bag for me and baby.  This is huge considering I strolled up in Labor and Delivery with a suitcase, diaper bag, and toiletry bag when I was in labor with Mykenzi.  I'm pretty sure the nurses thought I was moving in and my husband had a few choice words for having to lug all that crap around.

Last, I just want to say thank you to all these amazing shops for working with me on this post.  It really has been a joy getting to know each and every one of you and supporting your labor of love.  All of your products are amazing and I'm honored to be able to have these items for myself and my baby.

I received these products courtesy of these shops in exchange for an honest review.  As always here at Baking Baby Brown all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
